[#148]

This mirrors what we went through. We learned: Phase 1 (1 month) involved stakeholder alignment. Phase 2 (2 months) focused on team training. Phase 3 (ongoing) was all about full rollout. Total investment was $50K but the payback period was only 3 months. Key success factors: automation, documentation, feedback loops. If I could do it again, I would start with better documentation.

Additionally, we found that cross-team collaboration is essential for success.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions - happy to share our runbooks and documentation.

Additionally, we found that security must be built in from the start, not bolted on later.

Great post! We've been doing this for about 18 months now and the results have been impressive. Our main learning was that the human side of change management is often harder than the technical implementation. We also discovered that we discovered several hidden dependencies during the migration. For anyone starting out, I'd recommend integration with our incident management system.

For context, we're using Elasticsearch, Fluentd, and Kibana.

I'd recommend checking out the community forums for more details.

We went through something very similar. The problem: scaling issues. Our initial approach was simple scripts but that didn't work because it didn't scale. What actually worked: real-time dashboards for stakeholder visibility. The key insight was the human side of change management is often harder than the technical implementation. Now we're able to detect issues early.

One thing I wish I knew earlier: security must be built in from the start, not bolted on later. Would have saved us a lot of time.

Good stuff! We've just started evaluating this approach. Could you elaborate on success metrics? Specifically, I'm curious about stakeholder communication. Also, how long did the initial implementation take? Any gotchas we should watch out for?

For context, we're using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Docker.

I'd recommend checking out relevant blog posts for more details.

One more thing worth mentioning: unexpected benefits included better developer experience and faster onboarding.

The technical specifics of our implementation. Architecture: microservices on Kubernetes. Tools used: Vault, AWS KMS, and SOPS. Configuration highlights: IaC with Terraform modules. Performance benchmarks showed 99.99% availability. Security considerations: secrets management with Vault. We documented everything in our internal wiki - happy to share snippets if helpful.

The end result was 3x increase in deployment frequency.

For context, we're using Terraform, AWS CDK, and CloudFormation.

Allow me to present an alternative view on the timeline. In our environment, we found that Vault, AWS KMS, and SOPS worked better because automation should augment human decision-making, not replace it entirely. That said, context matters a lot - what works for us might not work for everyone. The key is to focus on outcomes.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions - happy to share our runbooks and documentation.

One thing I wish I knew earlier: starting small and iterating is more effective than big-bang transformations. Would have saved us a lot of time.

Nice! We did something similar in our organization and can confirm the benefits. One thing we added was chaos engineering tests in staging. The key insight for us was understanding that automation should augment human decision-making, not replace it entirely. We also found that team morale improved significantly once the manual toil was automated away. Happy to share more details if anyone is interested.

I'd recommend checking out relevant blog posts for more details.

One thing I wish I knew earlier: documentation debt is as dangerous as technical debt. Would have saved us a lot of time.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions - happy to share our runbooks and documentation.

For context, we're using Datadog, PagerDuty, and Slack.

The end result was 50% reduction in deployment time.

Additionally, we found that the human side of change management is often harder than the technical implementation.

For context, we're using Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and Prometheus.

This resonates with my experience, though I'd emphasize maintenance burden. We learned this the hard way when the initial investment was higher than expected, but the long-term benefits exceeded our projections. Now we always make sure to test regularly. It's added maybe a few hours to our process but prevents a lot of headaches down the line.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions - happy to share our runbooks and documentation.

The end result was 50% reduction in deployment time.

Great job documenting all of this! I have a few questions: 1) How did you handle testing? 2) What was your approach to rollback? 3) Did you encounter any issues with compliance? We're considering a similar implementation and would love to learn from your experience.

I'd recommend checking out the official documentation for more details.

Great post! We've been doing this for about 14 months now and the results have been impressive. Our main learning was that automation should augment human decision-making, not replace it entirely. We also discovered that we underestimated the training time needed but it was worth the investment. For anyone starting out, I'd recommend compliance scanning in the CI pipeline.
