ChatGPT for infrastructure code - game changer or security risk? - has anyone else tried this approach?

We're evaluating AI-powered solutions for security scanning and this looks promising.

Concerns:
- Data privacy: are we comfortable sending code to external AI?
- Accuracy: can we trust AI for compliance?
- Cost: is the ROI there for regulated industries?

Thanks for this! We're beginning our evaluation ofg this approach. Could you elaborate on success metrics? Specifically, I'm curious about risk mitigation. Also, how long did the initial implementation take? Any gotchas we should watch out for?

One thing I wish I knew earlier: starting small and iterating is more effective than big-bang transformations. Would have saved us a lot of time.

The end result was 70% reduction in incident MTTR.

We felt this too! Here's how we learned: Phase 1 (2 weeks) involved tool evaluation. Phase 2 (2 months) focused on pilot implementation. Phase 3 (2 weeks) was all about knowledge sharing. Total investment was $50K but the payback period was only 9 months. Key success factors: good tooling, training, patience. If I could do it again, I would start with better documentation.

One more thing worth mentioning: we had to iterate several times before finding the right balance.

Playing devil's advocate here on the team structure. In our environment, we found that Datadog, PagerDuty, and Slack worked better because observability is not optional - you can't improve what you can't measure. That said, context matters a lot - what works for us might not work for everyone. The key is to invest in training.

We hit this same problem! Symptoms: high latency. Root cause analysis revealed connection pool exhaustion. Fix: corrected routing rules. Prevention measures: load testing. Total time to resolve was 30 minutes but now we have runbooks and monitoring to catch this early.
